Why whytyping?
Most typing tests tell you a number and stop. whytyping tells you why: which keys slow you down, what to practise next, and whether you're improving.
How scoring works
Speed counts the characters you typed correctly, divides by five (one standard word) and scales to a minute. Accuracy counts every keystroke, including ones you fixed. A run under 50% accuracy is shown but never counted. The full method is in how WPM is calculated, and the five milestones are in typing tiers explained.
What you can do here
Take the typing test, work through thirty short lessons in Learn to touch type, or try the Daily Challenge, which gives everyone the same text on the same day. Every result ends with a next step: a lesson, or a drill built from the keys that cost you most.
Who runs it
whytyping is built and run by whytyping. Lessons and guides are drafted with AI assistance and reviewed by a person before they're published.
