By using whytyping.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

The service

whytyping is a free typing test and practice site operated by whytyping. It is provided as is and as available. Features may change, and the site may be unavailable from time to time.

Who can use it

whytyping is a general-audience service, offered worldwide. It is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the EU and UK. There are no accounts, so there is nothing to register.

Acceptable use

Type with your own hands. You agree not to:

• use automated or scripted typing, or otherwise produce scores you did not type; runs that look scripted are not counted;
• interfere with the site, probe it for weaknesses without telling us, or try to disrupt it for others;
• scrape or download the site at a volume that disrupts it.

Your data

Your progress is stored in your own browser, not with us. That means we cannot restore it if your browser clears it or you change device. You are responsible for keeping a backup, which Settings can export. How analytics work is set out in the privacy policy.

Content and licences

Practice texts are public domain or our own writing. Sources and licences for texts, fonts and software are listed on the Credits page. The site's design, name, lessons and guides belong to whytyping unless that page says otherwise. You may share your own results and share cards freely.

Scores

Scores are measured in your browser and are for your own practice. We make no warranty that they are accurate for any other purpose. A score, tier or share card from whytyping is not a certificate and is not verified by us.

Third-party services

The site is delivered through Cloudflare and, if you accept analytics, uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.

Disclaimers and liability

To the extent the law allows, the service comes without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, whytyping is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data stored in your browser, arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes and ending the service

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the site means you accept it. We may change, suspend or end the service at any time. You can stop using it at any time and delete your data from Settings.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where the operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these terms removes consumer protections that the law of your country of residence gives you and that cannot be waived by contract.
