A typing game that builds real speed
Falling words is practice in disguise. Each word drops from the top of the field, and typing its first letter locks you on to it, so you always know which word your keystrokes count for. Finish the word and it clears. Let it land and you lose one of three lives.
The words come from the same common-word list as the typing test, so the patterns you drill here are the ones you meet everywhere else. Every ten words the level goes up and the fall speeds up a little, which pushes you to read ahead instead of typing letter by letter.
How scoring works
A cleared word scores ten points per letter, multiplied by the level you are on, so long words late in a game are worth the most. Your best score is saved in this browser, next to your stats. The game does not change your personal bests, tiers or 7-day average: those come from standard tests only.
Controls
Type to play. Esc or the Pause button stops the fall, and any key resumes. End game stops straight away and shows your score. With key sounds on, each key clicks and a cleared word pops. Alt + M (Option + M on a Mac) or the speaker button switches them without stopping the game. The game follows your reduced-motion setting.
Prefer structure? The touch typing lessons teach each finger its keys, and how to type faster explains what to practise and why.
