Bottom row: middle fingers (C and ,)
Middle fingers curl down one row.
Lessons work best with a physical keyboard. The full finger guide appears on tablets and wider.
About this lesson
The downward reach for the middle fingers is short but awkward, because the finger has to tuck in under the hand.
On several layouts one of these two keys is a punctuation mark rather than a letter. It is typed in exactly the same way, and the practice lines include it wherever your layout puts it. Keep the pace low until the movement stops feeling strange.
Hand position
- Each middle finger moves down and slightly to the right of its home key.
- Keep the index finger resting on its bump while the middle finger moves.
- Use a short tap and come straight back.
On a US (QWERTY) keyboard this lesson's keys are C and ,. Lessons follow key positions, so on another layout the same fingers practise the keys that sit in the same places. It takes about 3 minutes: six short lines, passed at 92% accuracy. Speed is not part of the pass mark.
