About this lesson
Capitals are a two-hand movement: one hand holds Shift and the other types the letter. Using the opposite hand keeps both hands close to the home row.
Every capital in this lesson is a letter typed by your right hand, so the left Shift does all the holding. Words begin with a capital and continue in lower case. Hold, press, release, and bring both fingers home.
Hand position
- Hold Shift with the little finger of the opposite hand to the letter.
- For right-hand letters, the left little finger holds the left Shift key.
- Release Shift as soon as the capital is typed, and return the finger to the home row.
This lesson is defined by its characters rather than by key position, so it is the same on every keyboard layout. It takes about 3 minutes: six short lines, passed at 92% accuracy. Speed is not part of the pass mark.
