About this lesson
You have now met every key on the three letter rows, so the practice lines can use any common word. This is the point where touch typing begins to feel like typing rather than an exercise.
It is also a good moment to take a one-minute test and compare it with your baseline. The result shows which keys still cost you time.
Hand position
- Start from the home row and return to it between words.
- Keep a pace at which you make almost no mistakes.
- Look at the screen only; trust your fingers to find the keys.
This lesson is defined by its characters rather than by key position, so it is the same on every keyboard layout. It takes about 4 minutes: six short lines, passed at 92% accuracy. Speed is not part of the pass mark.
